But here in Selkirk we've got the most wonderful repair shop at The General Store - so if you’ve got stuff lying around the house that you don’t want to part with, but which no longer works, why not bring it along and see if they can fix it.
It's a wonderful community interest company doing amazing work brightening up the town centre.
Run by the inimitable Sue Briggs, they'll tackle pretty much anything, from electrical goods including laptops to clothes, china and garden tools.
As Sue says: "Oh for goodness sake, if you can bring it in we can take a look! No fix, no fee - who dares wins!"
They also have impeccable taste and sell @fiveturretshandwoven rather lovely weaving.
So it was no surprise that @thegeneralstoreselkirk was nominated for the social enterprise of the year title in the @borderschamber recent awards.
You'll find them off the Market Place in the centre of town - you can't miss them, there's always something going on.
Remember - the best of Scotland begins at the border.
