The award-winning Naked Sourdough offers deliciously handcrafted sourdough bread and mouthwatering pastries


What we like:

Every day there's something new and wonderful from talented chef and baker Cristina Wood. Not only that, she also offers a chance to sample some of her fabulous creations right here in The Five Turrets.


By day the superb cook runs her own business in nearby Kelso but lucky guests can also commission to come to the house to prepare a feast just for them.


Cristina has built an amazing reputation for herself through her artisan Scottish Borders sourdough bakery and contemporary café. Feast your eyes on some of her creations in this gallery of images from her Facebook page.



Cristina has put together a sample menu to tempt you - but talk to her about your requirements and see for yourself what culinary magic she can conjure up. This sample menu is priced at £45 per head (plus travelling costs). Please discuss your requirements with her: she's happy to work with guests to accommodate their requirements, including vegaan options, but please bear in mind this may mean some supplementary charges).



Cristina is also offering a breakfast basket containing some of her signature sourdough masterpieces, along with handcrafted croissants and bagels.




In her own words:

"Our story began during the 2020 lockdown when we used to bake our sourdough loaves in a small domestic kitchen but due to its popularity we have now grown and expanded from a "one man band" to a small, diverse & hard-working team of 11 individuals, all sharing the same passion - outstandingly good bread, good food & great banter!
"Right from its inception we believed in the value of homemade, crafted, quality baked goods. Not only do they warm the home, but our products will definitely warm the heart, too! Our favourite time of day is when our first batch comes out of the oven early in the morning, and the fresh smell fills the entire street of our bakery.
"We are passionate about Scottish, organic & locally grown, fresh ingredients made into recipes that taste amazing, emphasising on taste over flash.

Good to know:

Not only can Cristina cook up a feast - she's also happy to share her knowledge, running baking courses to teach guests some of the tricks of how to rustle up the perfect sourdough loaf. Her lessons are perfect for absolute beginners and keen amateur bakers alike.
